SocioTopography
About the framework
SocioTopography is a system-state framework for observing how economic and financial conditions move over time. It maps where a system sits, how it is moving and how familiar that position is relative to its own history.
Two clocks
Live Transmission
Tracks faster cross-market conditions as new market information becomes available. It asks whether pressure is spreading across major market channels.
Monthly System State
Tracks the slower structural, economic and historical position of eight economies using monthly and annual data.
The two layers are deliberately kept separate and are never combined into one score.
What the monthly model looks at
Pressure
How much financial and economic pressure is present in the latest monthly reading.
Structural position
How exposed or buffered the underlying fiscal and external position is.
Historical pattern
Whether the latest combination resembles states that country has occupied before. Familiar does not mean low stress.
Relationship changes
Whether important relationships between indicators are behaving differently from their historical pattern.
What Live Transmission looks at
The live layer monitors energy, US long-term rates, the US dollar, Japan FX and Japan rates. Credit and volatility are reported separately as an independent confirmation layer.
Where AI fits
Market readings and channel states are calculated from quantitative data. An AI-assisted Regime Watch reviews cited public sources for policy actions, capital flows, intervention, liquidity developments and other transmission mechanisms that market prices alone cannot describe.
AI cannot replace the underlying market readings or set them directly. Any contextual escalation must also pass rule-based checks before it can affect the published live status.
What the model does not claim
It does not predict a specific crisis, calculate a probability of collapse or assume that historical similarity determines what happens next. It describes system state, movement and changing relationships.
Data
The framework uses public macroeconomic and market data, including OECD, World Bank, IMF, central-bank and government sources, and major public market-data series.
Experimental status
SocioTopography remains an experimental research framework. Its purpose is to observe system state, movement and changing relationships over time, and to test whether those diagnostics remain informative as conditions evolve.
